Digital inking warm-ups. My summer holiday ends tomorrow. It was too short as always. But I’ll welcome my favourite season, autumn, with open arms and mind.

It’s almost 3.00 AM. If I could choose I’d work at night and sleep all day in my dungeon. I’m way more creative and productive during night-time (why waste that time partyin’, eeeh?) ATM I’m making rough storyboard sketches & color planning for my very first comic! It took me about a year (long breaks included) to think about the story and the characters. The main story isn’t quite yet sealed but I have a handful of interesting fellows so let’s begin!(Jenna Tähtinen)

Lucy Lawless would have been just perfect Wonder Woman during 90’s.

Music posts continues: One of the smallest joys in life is listening music in a car and it’s even more satisfying during nightime. Don’t know if it’s that to driver, I don’t have a license myself. Imagine this (maybe without AC/DC, even though there’s nothing wrong with that either). I think these songs are made for night driving.

Do you have night driving favorites? I’d like to hear those!

Post Dedicated to Music:

I’ve been listening this a lot lately. I don’t usually post music here but….why not? It’s a pretty important inspiration source for me. Some tunes just create different feelings/moods, memories, places…etc. I can almost “see” what I’m listening. It also works other way around, if I see a really awesome music video, I begin to like the song ‘cause I can see the clip in my head everytime I’m listening it.

If I’m drawing something “gore” or monstrous I might listen the same black metal song on repeat over and over again until the drawing is finished. I’m always afraid that if I change the background music it will effect somehow to the end result. And if I’m drawing something really childish I might listen children’s songs and so on. That’s how it works for me. My taste is quite wide. But when I really have to concentrate I need silence to hear my thoughts. Silence is underrated nowadays.

People like to talk about themselves and share thoughts, so let’s continue. Here’s a few songs I begin to dig because of some beautiful animated frammmmmes:

Sometimes it just fits perfectly in the scene. Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride) - Don Felder. If you haven’t seen Heavy Metal, you should. There’s a unique atmosphere in that film and it’s filled with good music (Black Sabbath, Devo, Nazareth, Journey etc..). Is it also sexist? Yes, but in this case it doesn’t matter.

Mediational Field - Susumu Hirasawa

This specific song was written by They Might Be Giants but the whole OST for Coraline film is just so good and it really supports visuals and story, composed by the French composer Bruno Coulais. One of my favorite animated films. List is endless but I don’t want to fill my whole blog frontpage with youtube clips. Join me next week when I share songs that boosts your my creativity during car rides at night (?).
