About

This is a sketchblog or an artblog or more precisely "what-ever-I-will-make-up-in-my-mind" blog of a one graphic design student from Lahti city, Finland. I love drawing, photographing, animals & nature, Batman, videogaming and russian nesting dolls but I hate bananas.

I own the copyrights to all pics, unless otherwise mentioned. Do not use them without my permission.

I'm always ready for work & commissions!

Here’s a little something I made this morning. Just wanted to test things and try something different. I was inspired by Shane Prigmore and especially his Coraline designs. Damn, it’s hard for me to make something simple enough. The pose was just too stupid and odd in the sketch so I decided to change it for the final version.

It’s A-ME, when I was about 4-7 years old. I think I was very lucky to live around woods and rocks. I was adventuring in them almost every day so it is certain that I got a lot of little injuries. When I didn’t have bandages, I used birch leaves to stop my wounds from bleeding. My father used to make me bows from a willow tree.

And I’m going to NYC on the next week! How awesome is that!

Ja hei, meen ensi viikolla New Yorkiin! Kääk. Odotan kyllä jo innolla, että pääsen ottamaan kuvia paikasta.

I saw this kid on pinterest and I drew him to my sketchbook. He looks like a little fancy pants troublemaker.

Procrastinating with my school work again. With girls & walrus. I hate myself when the critique day comes.

Taas yllätin itseni tekemästä jotain muuta kuin koulujuttuja… Tyttöjä ja mursua. Toivottavasti selviän tulevasta kritiikkipäivästä.

The postman brought me some new books, I thought that I could introduce them to you once again in different posts.

STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST by Austin Kleon

Every artist is working under the influences and they need to gather their inspiration from somewhere (even if you’re not ready to admit it). The truth is that nothing is original. This book teaches right from wrong in this case and gives you precious tips (especially if you are beginner)  about how to work as an artist.

Summary of my stuff from last year.
JANUARY: Nothing much. But I got a brief from…
FEBRUARY: ..young singer Dimi/Dimitra Salo who wanted covers to her record.
MARCH: Was a pleasant and enjoyable time with silkscreen printing and I made up this “Padre Muerte” guy. I was pretty proud of him, and I still am. I’m glad that I got a few of them sold at my school’s Christmas fair. Too bad that t-shirts with this pic didn’t last quite good in a wash.
APRIL: This kitty was made for After Effects course.
MAY: Sketches from my A3-sized sketchbook. I had just bought it.
JUNE: Originally I made this for dA’s cubism competition. After voting I was told by judges that it doesn’t quite fit in “cubism”, so it never got anywhere. Also one of my favourite works from last year.
JULY: T-shirt that I made for my internship place.
AUGUST: I started doing some drawing challenge and I failed…again. Maybe I will continue it on someday.
SEPTEMBER: Just an interesting test work from some of my doodles on sketchbook.
OCTOBER: Skull for my website (still working on that!).
NOVEMBER: One of the Christmas cards I made. At first I wasn’t that sure of that pic and I was hoping that I’ll get a better idea for the cards but time was running out and I had to do something, so I decided to finish it anyway. Suprisingly they were selling really good!
DECEMBER: Really, really, really busy month. And it still going. That’s why I failed with this Batman calendar thing. :-( But I’m still going to make the rest of them when I have time.

At first I wanted to make something really cool and little more realistic stuff for this calendar thing but it would have taken too much time. I need time to do something else too. 8-)

Day 1. Batgirl / Batman advent calendar
..is mad.
It’s 1st of December and it’s time to start my Christmas calendar! I’m going to draw one Batman character every day until Santa comes. D: There’s little clues added in these pics that will give you some hints about the next character… This one is too easy. But can you guess him/her?
